About Le Royal Monceau

Le Royal Monceau opened its doors in October 2010 to welcome guests to a start of a new era for this historic Parisian hotel. The hotel underwent a dramatic transformation under the guidance of designer Philippe Starck that brings new life to one of the favorite spot in Paris for celebrities and artists.

Under the new concept that combines the arty décor with ultimate comfort and modern luxury, Raffles’ flagship hotel now offers 149 rooms and suites, a spa by Clarins with an indoor swimming pool, an art gallery “Art District”, a bookstore “La Librarie des Arts”, and a screening room “Le Cinema des Lumieres”. Hotel’s eclectic décor features work of contemporary art that give the space unique and memorable look, far from typical hotel uniformity, all in aim to make guests feel like visiting a friend in Paris. It is this approach to hotel stay that enabled Le Royal Monceau to win an award “Best New Hotel 2012” in January by prestigious Tatler magazine.

Le Royal Monceau offers several venues for dining and leisure:  fine dining at “La Cuisine”, tastes of Italian gastronomy at “Il Carpaccio”, relaxation at “Le Grand Salon” and smooth drinks at “Le Bar Long”. Glass Studio worked with hotel’s team in designing dinnerware pieces for one of the restaurants and amenities. In this post we present to you our dinnerware designs for “La Cuisine”.

Brunch buffet dishes and dinnerware for La Cuisine

“La Cuisine” is a fine dining restaurant offering delicate French food, with focus on local flavors and fresh ingredients. Described as “a cathedral with the feeling of a family dining room”, the restaurant aims to offer a spontaneous dining experience with all of the aspects of a trendy and urban restaurant.

The venue features high ceilings decorated with a fresco by Stephane Calais titled “A garden in Paris” along with impressive crystal chandeliers . The open kitchen is illuminated by a wall of back-lit bottles in warm colors that provide  contrast to the furniture in neutral beige color.

Restaurant’s chef Laurent Andre collaborated with Glass Studio designers in creating dinnerware like brunch buffet dishes to be used for a brunch buffet set up. Designs included a range of glass serving bowls of various sizes.

Our designers chose  red and tobacco brown colors in “crackle” pattern  for the design of brunch buffet dishes. The metallic finish of the pattern  beautifully reflects the light, while the colors match the décor of the restaurant.

Glass bowls are used for serving mostly items such as cereals and fruits, and provide a beautiful addition to the overall buffet setting at brunch service.
