Chinese dining setup for a Chinese restaurant at St Regis Sanya Yalong Bay
About St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay
St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay is St. Regis’ first resort in South China. Located on Hainan island, the so-called “Hawaii of Southern China”, this St. Regis property is envisioned as a family resort, offering 401 rooms and suites, 28 villas and the perks of beach-front views, unique sail-in and sail-out access services, signature spa amenities and five international restaurants.
Glass Studio worked with hotel’s opening team on designing a chinese dining setup for hotel’s two dining outlets – Driftwood and Ming Xuan. In this post we present our designer tableware for Ming Xuan restaurant.
Chinese dining setup for Ming Xuan Chinese restaurant
St. Regis hotels take pride in dining venues with refined menus and beautiful presentations. Ming Xuan is no exception. The restaurant enjoys serene views of the Yacht Club and Marina, and is designed as a place for contemporary fine dining. The restaurant specializes in authentic Cantonese and Sichuanese cosines, offering dishes such as chilled foie gras as well as a variety of crabs, lobsters and other local seafood paired with vermicelli noodles.

Restaurant’s decor reflects the emphasis on traditional Chinese dining. The interior features traditional round tables and oversized lantern decorations. The sleek surfaces of cherry wood tables and marble floors, pared with muted warm colors give the restaurant a very contemporary feel.

Our designers worked with the restaurant’s team in creating a chinese dining setup that matches the interior and the type of cuisine served. For the main dining section, Glass Studio created table setups with square show plates in pale green color, featuring “chess” pattern with a net of squares and circles.

For the private dining section, tabletop design featured a more elaborate setup, with a set of three plates. The Chinese dining setup featured square show plate as the one in the main dining section, combined with a round dining plate in matching brown shade and a small appetizer plate in green color. All of the plates featured “chess” design, which complemented well the Chinese dining theme.

The plates were paired with glass cutlery rests for chopsticks and cutlery, which are irreplaceable in Chinese dining. The chopstick rests added a subtle contemporary accent to the overall tabletop design.
